As a result of the requirement for Mandatory Membership based on Code Rule 753, UDig NY has two types of membership classes:
- Exempt Participating Members
As per Chapter 685 of the Laws of 1994, municipalities and authorities that operate underground facilities and any operator of underground facilities that provide water service to less than four thousand (4,000) customers are required to become members. Exempt Participating Members are exempt from the cost of UDig NY, Inc. basic service. As an Exempt Participating Member, you are entitled to receive UDig NY basic service for one Service Area at no charge. Additional services may be provided at the member’s request for the applicable rate.
- Participating Members: all other members
UDig NY Board of Directors have a rate schedule each year to balance the cost among all members. See billing structure for more information.
UDig NY has created a Sustaining Membership classification for voluntary membership for Stakeholders.
