John Yehl
UDig NY Field Representative ( Hudson Valley and Southern Tier Region)
John has worked with UDig NY (formally Dig Safely New York) since 2004 as the Hudson Valley Field Representative. He has facilitated excavator training and community awareness in the prevention of damages throughout the Hudson Valley nine counties in the Southeast Corner and seven counties in the Southern Tier of New York State. For 12 years prior to working for UDig NY I worked as a Utility Pipeline employee for an interstate natural gas Pipeline Company. Working for the Pipeline Company I understood incredibly early in my career how damage prevention was an important part of any utility company. I became involved with the Damage Prevention Council first as a member, then as the Council Secretary and was elected as the Council Chairperson before having to step down upon when hired by Dig Safely New York. During this time, I worked with contractors both in the company and third-party contractors to prevent damage to our underground system, with hosted education events, onsite training, and community events to promote Safe Digging in New York State. I have been involved in the prevention of damages since 1992 when I first started my career.
