Considerations for Unseen Hazards “Dirty Dirt” What’s in That Soil

Excavators (Contractor/Municipality/Private Industry) perform contract work and respond to emergencies require excavations of various sizes and depth whether they be trenches or major excavations.  Before digging and working in trenches or excavations, there should be considerations regarding who or what was here in this location before we arrived, and what may have been spilled or be present in the soil from past operations, industries, or accidents?

This presentation will explore the potential for and typical unforeseen issues regarding chemical and biological contaminants, and hazards they pose to excavators and excavation workers, and what to consider as a quick assessment before starting work.
